Light that goes past the skin

660 nm and 850 nm together
Two wavelengths, two jobs

660 for the surface, 850 for the deep bit

Red at 660 nm works on the skin and the tissue just underneath it. Near-infrared at 850 nm is invisible and travels further, which is where a joint capsule actually lives. Both run together, every session — a device with only one of them is half a device.

A wrap instead of a panel
Why a wrap and not a panel

A panel makes you sit still for it

A full-size light panel is an appointment with your own living room: stand there, hold the joint at the right distance, don't move. A wrap fastens on and stays in contact while you get the dinner on. The device that gets used is the one that lets you carry on.

Ten minutes a session
Ten minutes, then it stops

Short enough that you'll actually do it daily

The timer is not a limitation, it is the design. Ten minutes fits between clearing the table and starting the film. Twenty does not — which is exactly why devices with twenty-minute programmes end up in the cupboard by March.

How it works?

1

Strap it where it hurts

Knee, elbow, shoulder, ankle, lower back. The panel is flexible, so it bends around the joint and the light sits flat against the skin instead of pointing at it from a metre away.

2

Press the button once

Both wavelengths come on together and the ten minutes start. No app, no pairing, no dial to get wrong. One button is the whole interface, and that is deliberate.

3

Then get on with your evening

This is the part a panel cannot do. Cook, read, answer emails, watch the match. It switches itself off — you notice it has finished because the warmth stops.

What the first month actually looks like

Not a promise. What people tell us, in the order they tell us.

The first session
The first session

The evening ache goes quiet

Almost everyone describes the same thing, and it is not dramatic: no jolt, no real heat, just the deep ache dropping a level for the rest of the evening. That is what makes you do it again tomorrow.

Weeks two and three
Weeks two and three

The mornings start changing

Stiffness that used to hang around until the second coffee begins letting go sooner. It is gradual, it is unglamorous, and it is exactly the point most people give up before reaching.

Month one and after
Month one and after

It stops being a project

Ten minutes on the knee before bed. On the shoulder after the garden. On the elbow after tennis. One device, several joints, and nobody has to book anything.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work through clothing?
No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you something. Light does not get through a pair of jeans. Skin contact, every single time — roll the trouser leg up, put the wrap on bare skin, and give it the ten minutes.
When will I feel something?
Most people notice the ache is quieter the same evening. The change that actually matters — how the joint feels at seven in the morning — takes two to three weeks of near-daily use. If you try it twice and put it in a drawer, you will never find out.
Does it get hot?
There is a gentle warmth, but the warmth is a by-product, not the point. A heating pad gives you a lot of heat that stops at the skin. Here the heat is the bit you feel and the light is the bit that is working.
Can I use it on other joints?
Yes, and most people do. Knee, elbow, shoulder, ankle, wrist, lower back. The strap is long enough to close around a thigh and short enough to close around an elbow, which is the whole reason it is a wrap and not a panel.
How often, and can I overdo it?
Once a day is the routine almost everyone settles into, which is why the timer stops at ten minutes. Doubling the time does not double anything. Do not look straight into the LEDs — they belong against the skin, which is where they will be anyway.
I have a joint replacement, or I am on medication
Then ask your doctor before you start — it is a two-minute question and we would rather you asked it. The same goes if you are pregnant, being treated for a skin condition, or taking anything that makes you sensitive to light. This is a comfort device, not a treatment, and it does not replace anyone's advice.
